Jackson Deal Terrifies Goldbridge as Amorim Eyes Transfer Targets

Nicolas Jackson Links Cause Shockwaves Among United Fans

Mark Goldbridge, the voice of The United Stand, did not hold back as he reacted to rumours linking Manchester United with Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson. With passion characteristic of the fan-led podcast, Goldbridge opened by saying, “It scares me. It scares me a lot… Manchester United linked to Nicolas Jackson overnight.”

His reaction was visceral and absolute: “I can’t contemplate this. I can’t get behind this.” Goldbridge, known for his strong views, was clear on why he believes this transfer would be a mistake: “I’ve absolutely rinsed this player… there are clips of him missing chances and I’ve gone who’s bad. I’d rather have Michael Jackson up front.”

The speculation, originating from French media, suggests that Ruben Amorim may see Jackson as a solution to United’s goal-scoring woes. But Goldbridge believes this shows how far the club has fallen. “This is the sort of deal that years ago Chelsea would be selling this player to Everton,” he said.

Striker Situation: Where Is the Ambition?

Throughout the podcast, Goldbridge repeatedly emphasised the lack of ambition and strategy at United. Reflecting on the possibility of spending £60 million on Jackson, he asked, “Why would you do it again? Neither of these players are teenagers.” His criticism extended beyond Jackson to United’s overall striker situation: “I don’t agree with giving Rasmus and Zirkzee another season.”

He was candid about the desperation this reflects: “Some of the players we are being linked with shows how far we have fallen. It’s absolute pitiful.”

The comparison to other clubs was striking. “You look at all Liverpool’s transfers… Arsenal’s, Man City’s. There is no deal this summer that’s gone even half as long as Mbeumo to Man United.” The drawn-out nature of transfers is frustrating fans, and Goldbridge voiced that agitation with brutal honesty.

Mbeumo Transfer Delay “Staged”, Says Goldbridge

Discussing Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo, Goldbridge suggested the deal is being deliberately stalled: “I think United have staged this. I think they’ve purposely made it go this long.” He posited that the club is managing optics rather than acting decisively: “We haven’t sold other players and it’ll be a financial thing.”

Despite Fabrizio Romano’s updates claiming progress, Goldbridge pushed back: “There has been no update… since David Ornstein told us the story at the start of June. Mbeumo wants Man United. Brentford will sell for 60 and Man United need to offer it.”

Rashford and Onana Among Exit Talks

Mark also revealed upcoming discussions involving Marcus Rashford and André Onana. “Manchester United will hold transfer talks with Rashford and Onana this week,” he confirmed, highlighting that even Rashford’s representatives are being briefed on potential exit packages.

“Apparently the conversation is not for Rashford to stay,” he added. “It’s for Rashford’s people to understand what Man United are willing to accept as an exit.”

These developments signal a shift in the club’s stance under new management influence, with Ruben Amorim reportedly playing a role in the evaluation of player suitability.
