Celtic FC Women booked their place in the fourth round of the Scottish Cup with an empathic 13-0 win over Glasgow Girls & Women.

An impressive first-half showing from the Ghirls saw them race into a 7-0 lead, before adding six goals in the second 45 minutes.

Following the conclusion of the final international break of 2024, the Hoops returned to action, kicking off their Scottish Cup campaign.

Elena Sadiku named a changed line-up, handing Academy youngster Darra Dawson her first senior start and appearance at Cliftonhill.

Straight from the off, it was one way traffic with the Celts, as expected, dominating against the lower league side.

And Sadiku couldn’t really have asked for a much better start as Hana Kerner grabbed the first of her three first-half goals.

That was quickly followed up by a goal just three minutes later as Maria McAneny produced a fantastic, chipped finish to double the advantage.

The goals kept coming inside the opening 20 minutes of the match, with Luana Munoz grabbing her first goal in green and white with a thunderous effort from long range.

Soon after Kerner scored her second with another tidy finish, before Mathilde Carstens got in on the act in the first half.

Taking the captain’s armband for the afternoon, Colette Cavanagh added a sixth in the first half, following a well-timed run and finish inside the area.

The Hoops rounded off what was a really strong first half showing by grabbing a seventh as Kerner completed her hat-trick.

Finishing off another well worked move on the left-hand side, the full-back completed the half in style with her first triple for the club.

Following an emphatic first-half performance, it was much of the same heading into the second as the Ghirls continued to push forward for more.

Mathilde Carstens kicked-off the second half scoring with a powerful strike from distance to become one of several players to grab a brace on Sunday afternoon.

Having not got her name on the scoresheet in the first half, it didn’t take long for Saoirse Noonan to get in amongst the goals as the Irish forward flicked home a McAneny delivery.

After grabbing a ninth beyond the hour mark, the goals continued to flow for the Hoops as Luana grabbed her second of the afternoon, bulleting home a header from a corner.

Having seen Kerner net a first half hat-trick, McAneny soon joined the American by scoring a triple of her own, with a further two impressive finishes in the final 15 minutes of action.

In the closing stages of the game, the scoring was rounded off by substitute Morgan Cross, who stayed composed to direct the ball into the bottom corner, giving the goalkeeper no chance.

It was an impressive afternoon’s work from the Ghirls, who booked their place in round four of the Scottish Cup in style.

The Hoops will discover their opponents for the next round on Monday evening as Elena Sadiku’s side now turn their attention to Champions League action against Real Madrid this Wednesday evening (8pm).
