AC Milan are attempting to sign Serbian defender Strahinja Pavlovic from Red Bull Salzburg this summer to add more quality depth to the back line.

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Rossoneri are well aware that a new defender is needed and they wish to sign an established but young player who can develop further at the club.

The 23-year-old Pavlovic was a part of the Serbia squad at Euro 2024 and stood out for his physicality, standing at 1.94m tall.

He joined Monaco from Partizan Belgrade for €10m in 2020 but struggled to make the expected progress in the principality. Loans at FC Basel and Cercle Brugge proved very successful though and eventually he joined RB Salzburg for €7m.

That is where he has blossomed and has become a very important player, who actually almost joined Lazio in the past but a failed medical put paid to the move.

Napoli have shown a lot of interest in Pavlovic, as have some Premier League teams, partly because it seems a bid of €20-25m will be enough to secure his services. The belief is that he is ready to take the next step in his career to a major league.

Pavlovic could be viewed as the replacement for Simon Kjaer who left the club this summer and he would put pressure on other defenders in the squad.
