Juventus beat Genoa 1-0 away from home today as the Bianconeri maintained their 100% start to the 2025-26 Serie A season. With Manuel Locatelli substituted in the 62nd minute, centre-back Federico Gatti took the captain’s armband for the last half an hour and spoke to the press after the match.

Speaking to various microphones, with quotes via TuttoMercatoWeb, Gatti said that “All wins are good but there are matches where you have to be dirtier and nastier. This is a tough ground, we had to bring the result home.”

The defender is also confident with his defensive teammates this season, after the Old Lady still are yet to concede a goal in Serie A. “With Bremer I have a strong understanding. Kelly has grown a lot, as has Kalulu. Playing in Genoa is always very tough, this is a very important victory.”

Juventus defender Gatti: ‘Vlahovic always gives 110%; we need to keep going this direction’

Gatti took some time to praise teammate Dusan Vlahovic, who scored the winner tonight after coming on as a second-half substitute for Canadian striker Jonathan David. Vlahovic has been linked away from Turin this summer, with clubs such as Manchester United and Milan linked with moves for the tall Serbian.

Gatti said that “Dusan always gives 110% in training and his commitment will never be lacking. He just has to do what he did today: win us matches.”

Discussing today’s victory, Gatti told reporters “It is just the beginning. Now, when we come back from the international break, a difficult run of fixtures begins… but we have started well. We showed solidity and up front we showed that we can decide the game.”

“These are two crucial wins where we didn’t concede. We have to be careful with complacency. When we return there will be a difficult but exciting run of games. We’ve started to lay the foundations for the future and we need to keep going in this direction.”
