Gasperini meets Roma players before arrival becomes official | OneFootball

Gian Piero Gasperini had his first meeting with Roma players today, but it was not yet in his role as new official Roma coach.

The former Atalanta boss declared he was leaving Bergamo after nine long seasons that saw him win the Europa League and make them into a Champions League regular.

He has agreed a three-year deal with Roma to take over from Claudio Ranieri, but the official statement has not yet been made.

Gasperini breaks ice with Roma stars

The coach was in the Capital today and was photographed by Sportitalia speaking to veteran Roma players Lorenzo Pellegrini, Stephan El Shaarawy and more.

However, they were all there for the wedding of Atalanta striker – formerly of the Roma youth academy and therefore friends with many of these players – Gianluca Scamacca.

It is safe to assume he was able to discuss his imminent arrival as their new coach at the Trigoria training ground.

Gasp flew to Rome from Paris, where yesterday he had been attending the tennis tournament at Roland Garros.
