Gianluca Scamacca could really return to wear the Roma jersey, the club where he grew up before moving to PSV at just 16 years old.
The striker has reportedly expressed his desire to return to the capital, a desire he reiterated in the days following his recent wedding to Flaminia Appolloni, which was celebrated in Rome.
A central role in this possible return could be played by Gian Piero Gasperini, the new Roma coach, with whom Scamacca shared his best season: 19 goals scored, the triumph in the Europa League and a place in the national team.
The two reportedly spoke to each other during the wedding ceremony.
Scamacca will return to group training in July, after overcoming the cruciate ligament injury that ended his season early.
Roma are looking for offensive reinforcements, regardless of Dovbyk’s future, and the Nerazzurri centre-forward represents an ideal profile due to his physical characteristics, experience in Serie A and age.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Atalanta values the player’s price tag at no less than €25 million.
Roma sporting director Florent Ghisolfi is considering the feasibility of the deal, which is currently in the preliminary phase.
