Gabriel Jesus admitted it isn’t easy playing for a club like Arsenal, but says he has worked hard to regain his place in the starting lineup.

The Brazilian striker was on the scoresheet again on Wednesday night as the Gunners won 3-1 at Brentford, cancelling out Bryan Mbeumo’s early opener.

A strong start to the second-half saw the north London outfit take command of the contest as Mikel Merino scored five minutes after the restart, followed shortly thereafter by a lovely finish from Gabriel Martinelli.

“I think the team did great today,” Jesus told TNT Sports after the final whistle.

“To come here and play the way we played is amazing. Of course, the most important thing is the three points and we did it, but then the most important thing was how we reacted and we did it.”

Jesus has struggled with form and fitness over the past year, but has found the net four times in his last six appearances in all competitions for Arsenal – as many as his previous 48 beforehand.

“I keep working and everyone at the club can tell how I work every day, not just me but everyone,” he said. “I don’t give up and it is not easy to play for a big club like Arsenal.

“Now I can score and I am very happy – I want to keep scoring to help the team.”

The results sees Arsenal move back up to second in the Premier League table, two points ahead of Nottingham Forest and six behind Liverpool, who have played a game less.
