Having snatched a narrow win over Midtjylland during the week, Eintracht Frankfurt continued their fine domestic form with a ruthless destruction of Heidenheim this afternoon. Dino Toppmöller's side were ultra-efficient with their chances as Omar Marmoush and Nathaniel Brown starred for the visitors. Frank Schmidt's side struggled to deal with the pace of the Hessen club who rise to second place in the Bundesliga and just 4 points behind Bayern Munich.
Frankfurt made the livelier start to proceedings but perhaps the best opening chance fell the way of Heidenheim. Jan Schöppner made a break down the right from there picking out a nice cross for Kaufmann. The Dane made a first-time connection but was foiled by the fearless frame of Kevin Trapp. Ten minutes later, Frankfurt hit the front. Who else but Omar Marmoush netting his twelfth goal of the season as Brown slipped the Egyptian in to find the lower left corner.
The half-time introduction of Farès Chaïbi proved to be a masterstroke from Dino Toppmöller as Die Adler doubled their lead inside four minutes. Having replaced Matanović, the young Algerian raced into the box to drill home Nataniel Brown's deflected cross. Approaching the hour, Frankfurt found themselves 3-0 to the good. Once again, Brown released Marmoush in behind Busch to convert from an acute angle on the left side of the box.
Further opportunities fell the way of the Egyptian who was actively being sought out by his teammates with each attack. The 25-year-old easily could have netted his hattrick, however he pushed another past the post while Kevin Müller managed to repel another in a one-on-one duel. Heidenheim's luck was evidently out as Honsak's late deflected strike bounced off the crossbar. Frankfurt notched a fourth goal in injury time as Ansgar Knauff squared for Hugo Ekitiké to tap home.
