FPL Scout: Gameweek 16 hints, tips and advice | OneFootball

Brentford have teamed up with Fantasy Football Scout to help bring you hints, tips and advice during the 2024/25 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) season.

Scout will be using their expertise to provide info, advice and Gameweek tips which may prove useful in ensuring you sit on top of your mini-leagues.

Best of the Bees

Another afternoon of entertainment at the Gtech Community Stadium saw Brentford beat Newcastle 4-2. The Bees' eight home matches now have an average of exactly five goals.

Bryan Mbeumo (£7.6m) was the most-sold player for both Gameweeks 14 and 15. However, his goal, assist and 13 points in Gameweek 15 was a reminder that Mbeumo is capable of hauling at any time.

In the eighth minute, he received the ball on the right flank, tiptoed into a central position and fired into the top corner past Nick Pope (£5.0m). Then, late, Mbeumo played in Kevin Schade (£5.1m) for Brentford's fourth.

In between, Yoane Wissa (£6.2m) produced a gameweek-leading three shots on target, netting one of them after picking up a wayward Newcastle pass. That’s now seven goals and two assists in six home matches, averaging a brilliant 9.5 points.

The Spotlight

Nathan Collins' (£4.5m) Gameweek 15 goal was his sixth attacking return of the season. This is the joint-best of all defenders, making him a great differential as he is selected in just 2.4% of overall squads.

Although not directly rewarded in FPL, it’s also worth noting that the 23-year-old ranks as the Premier League’s third-best defender for expected goals (xG, 1.95) and is fifth for shots on target (three) and penalty area touches (36).

Throughout all positions, Collins has won the most aerial duels (55) and showcased his good anticipation by blocking the highest number of opposition shots (27).

Collins’ goal was set up by Mark Flekken (£4.5m), pleasing over 1.27 million managers. He’s already the fourth goalkeeper to register an assist this season and was one of only two to do it during 2023/24.

Best of the Rest

Well done to those who ended up with Chelsea's Cole Palmer (£11.1m) as captain following the postponement of Mohamed Salah’s (£13.3m) match against Everton. Palmer delivered two goals, an assist and 18 points in the Blues' 4-3 win against Tottenham, which doubled to 36 for such managers.

Elsewhere, in Gabriel’s (£6.2m) absence, we saw his Arsenal centre-back partner William Saliba (£6.2m) score for a second consecutive game, while Nottingham Forest's Morgan Gibbs-White (£6.3m) joined Mbeumo on 13 points.

Slightly behind with a dozen were Jarrod Bowen (£7.4m) of West Ham and Leicester City's Jamie Vardy (£5.5m).

In Demand

Saliba is currently the most-purchased player heading into Gameweek 15, with Alexander Isak (£8.6m) and Enzo Fernández (£5.0m) close behind.

The Newcastle forward hopes to continue his two-match goal streak when facing promoted duo Leicester and Ipswich Town.

Meanwhile, Chelsea’s cheap Argentinian midfielder is back in their starting line-up and has a surprising three goals and three assists in his last five outings. He could be handy for squad depth over the festive schedule - an issue highlighted during the hectic Gameweek 15.

Captaincy

Salah and Palmer remain the leading contenders this time. Liverpool’s phenomenon has a whopping 10 double-digit hauls from his 14 matches. Last season, the only player to finish with 10 overall was Palmer.

Should managers want a more differential armband choice, Isak and Arsenal's Bukayo Saka (£10.5m) will be at home to Leicester and Everton respectively.
