Brentford forward Yoane Wissa is prioritising a move to Newcastle United despite approaches from the Saudi Pro League.
Newcastle had a £25m bid for Wissa turned down last month but remain interested in signing the DR Congo international. The Magpies are desperate to add reinforcements, following Callum Wilson’s exit and Alexander Isak’s desire for a move away.
Wissa is viewed as an ideal Premier League proven option, after scoring 19 league goals for Brentford last season.
There is also significant interest in the 28-year-old from Saudi Arabia with both NEOM and Al-Nassr having made approaches. Journalist Ben Jacobs is reporting that both sides believe Brentford will sell for around £40m, despite a reluctance to lose Wissa.
However, Wissa is giving priority to Newcastle – or another top European club – with the forward keen to play Champions League football. He is prepared to wait for Newcastle to submit an improved offer before deciding on his future.
Brentford are under no pressure to sell, following the departures of Christian Norgaard and Bryan Mbeumo. Tottenham Hotspur have also been linked with Wissa, with ex-Brentford boss open to a reunion with the player in North London.
