Former Real Madrid goalkeeper Kiko Casilla has opened up about his time sharing the dressing room with Cristiano Ronaldo, offering fans a glimpse into the Portuguese star’s kindness off the pitch.
Casilla, who played three seasons with Ronaldo at Real Madrid, could not hide his admiration.
“He’s a phenomenon, a superhuman person who helps even the last kid who comes up through the youth academy. Ask him for anything and he will give it to you,” he told El After de Post United, as quoted by MARCA.
One story Casilla shared perfectly captured Ronaldo’s generosity.
During a pre-season trip to the United States, Ronaldo surprised the entire Real Madrid staff, including physiotherapists, security guards, and other team members, by buying them all the latest iPhone and Apple Watch.
“There are details like that he doesn’t mention himself, because it doesn’t make sense to brag about them. He’s a person who likes to thank everyone around him,” Casilla explained.
Casilla also reflected on his personal journey and the surreal experience of training alongside his childhood idol, Iker Casillas.

“When I was little, my room was full of Casillas posters. When I trained with Iker, it was crazy for me,” he admitted.
He also recalled how Real Madrid’s dressing room transformed under coach Zinedine Zidane.
“When Zidane arrived, with the presence he had and everything he represented, Cristiano Ronaldo and Benzema stepped up so as not to let him down,” Casilla shared, underlining the respect Zidane commanded from the squad.
The former goalkeeper also spoke fondly of the unique energy surrounding Real Madrid, especially in the Champions League.
“The aura and DNA of Real Madrid are inexplicable. You knew those beasts in the Champions League had a change of heart and were going to crush their opponents,” he concluded.
Casilla even looked back on his brave days as a youngster in Barcelona, wearing his Espanyol shirt to school despite knowing it wouldn’t be well-received. His stories show just how deep his passion for football runs—and how unforgettable his time at Real Madrid was.
