Former chief scout makes big claim about Wesley Fofana’s Chelsea future | OneFootball

Chelsea are prepared to accept offers for Wesley Fofana this summer according to former Manchester United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown.

The Blues are once again set for another busy summer, and could look to fund their business by selling as many as seven or eight players.

Chelsea face a critical window with the club looking to sign a striker, centre back and right footed attacker to strengthen Enzo Maresca’s squad.

Chelsea prepared to accept Fofana offers

Whilst a striker is the main priority the Blues are also looking to add a centre back, and it appears there’s going to be a shake-up in that department.

Axel Disasi, Trevoh Chalobah and Renato Veiga are likely candidates to leave, whilst Fofana has recently been linked with a move to Marseille.

The 24-year-old has been plagued by injury issues once again this season, after missing the entire of last season with an ACL injury.

Fofana when fit has been part of Maresca’s first choice defensive pairing, with the Italian admitting he’s in love with the defender.

The France international has fared better this campaign, although he’s still only managed 14 appearances, with Ian Wright claiming the Blues can’t count on him.

Saudi clubs interested

Brown has claimed Fofana’s exit could fund a new centre back, and believes Chelsea wouldn’t stand in his way.

“Wesley Fofana is one who could leave Chelsea,” he told Football Insider.

“There are clubs in Saudi Arabia looking at him, and I don’t think Chelsea would stand in his way.

“He’s missed so many games through injury since he moved there, which is always a concern.

“I think the manager will be open to letting him go if they can find a replacement.

“They need to strengthen defensively, it’s going to be a priority, and if they can make huge money on him like we know these Saudi clubs will spend, it will boost their funds.
