Forgotten Chelsea attacker could return this weekend to inject some goals into difficult season

Armando Broja’s career so far has had one of the bleaker paths of any recent Cobham academy graduates.

It’s really been a case of “so close, yet so far” for the striker. After a really promising start on loan at Vitesse and then Southampton, a series of injuries have ruined Broja’s progress. Even this summer, as the club tried to find him an exit so he could start fresh somewhere, an Achilles issue was spotted in his medical, and he’s not been seen since.

Fortunately Everton were so desperate that they green lit a deal despite the injury – and despite knowing he would miss a good chunk of time. They might not have realised it would be December before he was back however, but it’s looking that way. Football.London have the following update today on his progress:

“Broja’s long-awaited Everton debut could be just around the corner after joining the Merseyside club with an Achilles injury back in the summer. The striker stepped up his fitness on Monday evening by playing the first 45 minutes of Everton Under-21s’ game against Watford Under-21s,” the site wrote.

“Broja will now be hoping to feature in the matchday squad on Sunday when the Toffees travel to Old Trafford to face Manchester United.”

Broja can help bland Everton score a little more

Despite not having played a minute yet, the talent Broja has shown before will have a few Toffees dreaming that he can return to action and still make a difference this season. They are so short of attacking threat that he might yet help them.

He really wouldn’t have to do much to improve a team which is just drifting slowly downwards under Sean Dyche. And we would all dearly love to see him playing football again.
