Barcelona continued their good run on the pre-season tour of Asia with a resounding 7-3 win over FC Seoul in South Korea today.
The Blaugrana got off the blocks quickly through goals from Robert Lewandowski and Lamine Yamal, but the hosts pegged them back twice to reinstate parity. Lamine, though, helped the Catalans reclaim their lead on the stroke of half-time.
Post the break, when Hansi Flick changed the entire lineup, Barcelona were unstoppable as Andreas Christensen made it 4-2 before Ferran Torres scored one goal on either side of a strike from Gavi.
In the end, the La Liga champions registered a statement 7-3 win, although they might be a tad disappointed over conceding three goals.
Speaking to the media after the match, Barcelona manager Hansi Flick highlighted the team’s attacking display while downplaying the defensive lapses on the day.
“The first half had a good start and then we were a bit lazy, but we came back to a great level and in the second half too, with Gavi, Ferran, Marcus… also Gerard Martin in a position that is not his usual one,” said Flick.

Flick took a moment to focus on Gavi, who wore the captain’s armband in the second half and scored Barcelona’s sixth goal. The coach expressed his satisfaction with the midfielder’s performance, saying:
“We saw him at the end of last season, and he was at a very good level. Here, what I’ve seen from Gavi is exactly what I want to see, pushing the team, with the armband, it’s good to see him like that.”
Regarding Gavi’s best role on the pitch, Flick did not reference the attacking midfield position where he featured last season. Instead, he said: “Gavi can play in both positions, 6 or 8.”
Flick also explained the substitutions made during the match as youth talents Guille and Toni Fernandez featured for the first time this pre-season, while the likes of Eric Garcia and Inigo Martinez did not get any minutes.
“Each player had 45 minutes. It was more important to take care of Eric and Iñigo, who had problems, but in the end, I’m very happy,” concluded the manager.
