FIFA Club World Cup Group Stage Draw Announced

FIFA has decided to change the format of the FIFA Club World Cup, starting from 2025.

The revamped Club World Cup will feature 32 teams from across the globe, bringing together champions who have earned their continent's highest honours or reached those who reached the final. Replacing the traditional annual format, the tournament will now take place every five years.

For the inaugural edition, Mexico will be represented by Monterrey, Club León, and Pachuca, while Seattle Sounders will join them as part of the CONCACAF contingent. This exciting new chapter promises to elevate global club football to unprecedented heights.

Monterrey

Los Rayados won the competition in 2021 with a 1-0 win over Club América. Their reward is a group stage which features River Plate of Argentina, Japan's Urawa Red Diamonds and the Italian giants of Inter Milan.

Club León

Representing Guanajuato, Mexico, Club León lifted the CONCACAF Champions Cup in 2022 with back-to-back wins over Los Angeles FC. The club took part in last winters Club World Cup but only lasted for one game where they faced defeat to Urawa Red Diamonds. This time around, they have been draw in a group which features 2021 UEFA Champions League winners Chelsea, 2022 Copa Libertadores winners Flamengo and CAF Champions League winners Espérance.

Pachuca

The latest CONCACAF Champions Cup winners ran riot with a convincing 3-0 win over the Columbus Crew in the final. Their group for the newest format of the Club World Cup includes Champions League record-holders and reigning champions Real Madrid, Al Hilal of Suadi Arabia and Austrian side RB Salzburg.
