There is reportedly a feeling in the industry right now that Chelsea will soon be making a move to sign one former Manchester City striker.
The January transfer window is now open, and although we keep being told not to expect a busy one in terms of in-comings at Chelsea, there is a feeling of there perhaps being a couple of surprises around the corner with some potential moves on the cards.
We know there will be outgoings and in fact, I actually reported on one that seems to be moving just this morning. Torino are in negotiations with Chelsea to sign midfielder Cesare Casadei on a permanent deal this month, and we expect more to follow that outgoing too.
But in terms of arrivals, I don’t expect much, but there might be one or two situations to watch, and one of those situations is a potential new striker if it cannot wait until the summer.
Delap scoring against Chelsea recently
We keep hearing about Chelsea’s interest in signing Liam Delap from Ipswich Town, and one reporter Ben Jacobs has been speaking about this one on Saturday night on an X Space.
Jacobs believes there is a feeling in the industry that Chelsea WILL be making a move to sign Delap, although he believes Ipswich will not let him go this window.
He said:
“The feeling in the industry at the moment is that Chelsea are going to move for Liam Delap but Ipswich are very unlikely to sell in January.”
It’s not clear if Chelsea will even make the move now or wait until the summer, but you feel that with a talent like the former Manchester City player, then you are going to have to move fast in order to get ahead of the competition.
