FC Bayern Women have arrived in Tyrol for their 2025 pre-season training camp. For new head coach José Barcala, the time in the Austrian Alps isn’t just about preparing his team for the coming season but also laying the foundation for a winning start in the Supercup on 30 August.

The Munich Frauen made the short journey across the border on Sunday, having done the same trip last year ahead of their historic double-winning campaign. “We feel very good here. The calmness, the nature and the lovely surroundings offer the perfect conditions for good training,” said Magdalena Eriksson of her first impressions this year. “We want to develop more as a team in the coming days, strengthen the connection between the players and also take our game to the next level. That’s especially exciting with our new coach José and his approach.”
Vanessa Gilles, Stine Ballisager, Natalia Padilla-Bidas and goalkeeper Anna Klink all played their first games in the recent friendly matches and now want to use the camp for valuable training sessions with their new team as they try to get to settle in. “It’s important to get to know the culture and processes, to understand how the team reacts in certain situations and how you communicate with individuals players but also the whole team. That’s especially crucial as a defender,” Gilles explained. “All in all, I want to get to know the players and also the coaches better, helping me feel more assured.”
After Sunday’s travel, Monday brought the first meetings and training sessions. “The focus for us over these days is to develop the team both as individuals and also as a collective,” coach Barcala explained. “The key thing is to learn clear plans in all match situations and improve the coordination in our play. We also want to push individual players in targeted areas. In addition, the camp gives us the valuable opportunity to spend time together and strengthen our team spirit by doing things together,” the Spaniard added.
José Barcala is looking to prepare Bayern as best he can for the new season.
Bayern will complete a number of intense training sessions over the coming days before finishing the camp with a friendly match back in Munich against Real Madrid. Kick-off at the FC Bayern Campus is at 4pm CEST on Thursday.
