Facundo Medina (26) is set to miss weeks of football for new club Olympique de Marseille after he picked up an injury during training this week.
As per information from L’Équipe, the centre-back on loan from RC Lens (but with an option to make the deal permanent suffered an injury to his ankle on Tuesday, which forced him to leave La Commanderie on crutches.
It was suspected that Medina would not be able to take part in the first home game of the season for Marseille when they take on Paris FC on Saturday, and it now looks as if it will be weeks before the loanee can make his debut after he missed the opening game of the season against Stade Rennais due to suspension.
Medina is also set to miss Marseille’s early-season encounter with arch-rivals Olympique Lyonnais, as he is scheduled to return after the international break, a situation which means he will also miss out on playing for his national side, Argentina, despite having been pre-selected alongside club teammates Leonardo Balerdi and Gerónimo Rulli.
