Manchester City’s struggles continued as they were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Everton on Boxing Day. This follows a 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa last weekend, and now Pep Guardiola is calling for bold moves in the January transfer window to turn things around.

City have won just one of their last 13 matches in all competitions, squandering a crucial chance to regain form when Erling Haaland’s second-half penalty was saved by Everton’s Jordan Pickford.

The Sky Blues are slipping further behind, not only in the title race (which now looks out of reach) but also in the fight for a top-four finish. However, with the transfer window opening soon, Manchester City may look to strengthen their squad.

Will Manchester City bolster their squad before PSG clash?

In his GIVEMESPORT newsletter, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano shared that Manchester City will be “very busy” next month, with plans to strengthen Pep Guardiola’s squad by targeting signings in multiple positions.

“I see Man City making [two to three signings] in the January window,” Romano noted. “A new midfielder, probably a defender (could be full-back or center-back based on opportunities) and also a new offensive player if an opportunity arises. But for sure, they’ll be very busy.”

With less than a month to regroup, City will have a few weeks to get back on track before facing Paris Saint-Germain on January 22nd in Matchday 7 of the UEFA Champions League group stage.

Currently sitting in 22nd place with eight points, City are just inside the top 24 spots needed to advance in the Champions League. However, a loss to PSG could see them drop out of the competition altogether.
