Argyle look set to decide who will be their next boss in the next couple of days, following Wayne Rooney's exit.
Plymouth Argyle are set to decide who their next manager will be within the next 48 hours.
That is according to a Thursday evening update from Fabrizio Romano, who has revealed that Miron Muslic is a strong candidate for the top job at Home Park.
The Pilgrims have been on the prowl for a new manager since New Year’s Eve when Wayne Rooney left the club.
Rooney joined the club in the summer after Neil Dewsnip was able to guide Argyle to survival but the former was unable to build on that and struggled for much of his tenure, especially away from home.
Back-to-back away defeats against Coventry City and Oxford United brought an end to his reign - and Kevin Nancekivell was appointed interim boss in the Manchester United legend’s place.
Currently bottom of the table, Plymouth know their next appointment will need to be spot-on to give themselves the best chance of avoiding relegation at the end of the season, something that’s still possible despite their current position.
But certainty is needed at Home Park and that means bringing in a permanent appointment, something that could happen in the coming days.
Plymouth are set to decide who will be their new manager within the next two days, according to Romano.
The same journalist has also noted the club's interest in Muslic, who was previously at Cercle Brugge.
He did an excellent job there for a chunk of his time with the Belgian outfit, before his departure last year.
Muslic could be the man who wins the race to become Argyle's next manager, but whoever is appointed, it doesn't look as though they will be installed before the side's FA Cup clash at Brentford tomorrow.
In fairness to Rooney, he did a fairly good job at Derby County alongside Liam Rosenior.
But Rosenior was credited for a decent chunk of the Rams' success during the former England striker's time at the helm and he didn't exactly make a huge impression at DC United.
As well as this, he endured a dire spell at Birmingham City. With this spell in mind, his appointment at Argyle didn't look to be a good one.
Considering how poor their previous managerial decision was, the right man needs to be appointed this time to ensure fans retain faith in the board.
And survival has to be the aim now.
