Fabrizio Romano has once again confirmed that Manchester United are continuing to push hard to sign Bryan Mbeumo.
The Red Devils have yet to finalise the terms of a potential deal with the 25-year-old’s club, Brentford.
Ruben Amorim’s side has already bolstered the forward line with the signing of Wolves attacker Matheus Cunha.
The expectation remains that the Premier League giants will make further additions to the offence.

One report from The Telegraph’s Luke Edwards made clear that Mbeumo is expected to arrive at Old Trafford before United jet off for their pre-season tour.
It’s important to emphasise that the reporter in question did not suggest that a breakthrough had been found. Rather, that the deadlock was ‘expected’ to be broken ‘in the coming days’.
More Stories about Bryan Mbeumo
Fabrizio Romano would appear to have at least loosely corroborated such a claim. The renowned transfer news journalist confirmed that Manchester United are optimistic of getting a ‘green light’ from the Bees soon.
“The contacts are still going between United, Brentford, [and] people involved in the deal,” the CaughtOffside columnist spoke on his eponymous YouTube channel.
“Mbeumo still wants to go to Manchester United, and the club maintains their confidence, their optimism, to get the green light and sign Bryan Mbeumo in the next days.
“Still no breakthrough in this story as of tonight. But Manchester United keep working, keep negotiating, keep advancing to find the right structure for the deal. They are working on easy and difficult add-ons, trying to make Brentford happy with the final proposal.
“So Man United are on it. The Bryan Mbeumo deal is absolutely alive at this moment as of this weekend, with Manchester United prepared to push again in negotiations and get Bryan Mbeumo, a crucial target.”
Don’t get us wrong, we’ve been seriously impressed with the quality of performances Amad Diallo (23) has shown amidst a poor 2024/25 campaign from the club.
In fact, a minutes per goal contribution rate of one every 131.33 minutes categorises the right winger as one of United’s more effective attackers.
Add Bryan Mbeumo into the mix, and suddenly we’ll have serious depth and quality in the position. It’s exactly the sort of thing our recruitment team has desperately needed to address this summer.
Forgetting the right flank for a moment, the Cameroonian’s arrival sets a higher bar in comparison to the likes of Rasmus Hojlund, Alejandro Garnacho and Joshua Zirkzee.

You’re not just getting goals from the winger, you’re guaranteed top-class creativity from the right flank.
Manchester United need this. We need more players like Mbeumo who are going to come in and challenge the status quo.
