Fabrizio Romano has revealed on Twitter that the Scottish Champions have beaten competition to sign the central defender.
It appears to be a straight loan with no option to buy, similar to the deal a decade ago that saw Jason Denayer swap Manchester for Glasgow’s East End.
The City Academy product is a right footed central defender and will likely come in as cover for Cameron Carter-Vickers. The opportunity to play European football will appeal to the player who will look to dislodge Liam Scales and Auston Trusty as CCV’s partner.
Celtic have received an offer for Stephen Welsh from Plymouth, which the club are said to be considering. You would imagine that this deal will go through if Simpson-Pusey is added to the Celtic squad.
Celtic supporters will be content with the midfield, defence and goalkeeping positions if this deal goes through. The real focus of business as the window goes on will need to be the attacking side of the team. Brendan has hinted that there will be some movement and this bodes well as the club need to add wingers and a striker to their ranks.
