Chelsea have reportedly made a formal enquiry to sign a former Manchester City player as soon as this month, reveals transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Romano has been delivering some of the latest transfer news this morning as he always does, with things starting to get a littler busier now as we head through the January transfer window.

Things seem to be happening at Chelsea and we have even just reported some big news of the club getting closer to signing a new centre back this window as well, in some news that came from nowhere this Monday lunchtime.

And as well as that, we continue to see rumours linking Chelsea players with moves away, even some surprise names who only just joined in the summer window. It’s madness.

But the latest enquiry they have made is for a player who came through the ranks in the Manchester City academy, but who has since gone out to play in the Bundesliga in order to develop and play regular football.

Chelsea in for Gittens

Romano reports that Chelsea made an enquiry to sign Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens just last week.

‘Chelsea made formal enquiry for Jamie Bynoe-Gittens last week, while Liverpool also sent their scouts several times to follow his progress this season.

‘Borussia Dortmund expect JBG to stay in January; meanwhile, top English clubs have started to make their moves.’

So he doesn’t completely rule it out for this month, but with Dortmund expecting the player to stay for now, then it looks like it is going to be one transfer saga that will build up towards the end of the season in time for the summer transfer window.
