The FA have confirmed that the Women's National League will have extra-promotion slots this season.
The decision follows the expansion of the WSL and WSL2 for the 2026/27 season, the FA now having to adjust its promotions for the 2025/26 season to keep a consistent 12-team league.
That means that one extra team will be promoted to the WSL2 this season alongside the winners of the National League's North and South divisions (Tier 3) which will be decided via a play-off between the runners-up of each division.
Of course, those new promotions will have a knock-on effect with two additional teams going from Tier 4 to Tier 3.
A similar play-off will take place between the runners-up of Division One North and Division One Midlands as well as Division One South West and Division One South East for their respective leagues.
The 2025/26 National League season kicks-off on Sunday 17th August.
