There has been a significant departure in AS Monaco’s defence in the form of Wilfried Singo, who has joined Galatasaray. Mohammed Salisu, linked with a move to Crystal Palace, could also depart before the closure of the transfer window.
In light of that, Monaco have been linked with an attempt to bring Axel Disasi (27) back to the club. The Frenchman left Monaco two years ago to join Chelsea, however, he has failed to establish himself and spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa.
Out of Enzo Maresca’s plans at Stamford Bridge, Disasi has been linked with a return to the Principality club by Foot Mercato. However, it is Get French Football News’ understanding that Les Monégasques have no interest in repatriating their former defender, who nonetheless continues to attract interest from Aston Villa and Bournemouth ahead of the closure of the transfer window.
Disasi not an option as Monaco look to academy
Eric Dier has already arrived and has established himself as a key figure of the defence, whilst there is also a desire to provide a route for academy products.
“We want to open space for some players from the academy. It is also Adi’s (Hutter) job to open the door and trust those [youth] players. We want to repeat those situations,” said Monaco CEO Thiago Scuro on Friday, evoking the club’s transfer plans between now and the end of the window.
