Speaking exclusively with FLW, Don Goodman has been discussing the potential for Jamie Vardy to sign for Celtic this summer.

Former Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy remains a free agent after leaving the Foxes in the summer, with Celtic said to be one of his potential options.

The 38-year-old apparently has his 'heart set' on a move to Glasgow giants Celtic, despite interest from West Ham, Brentford and Wrexham - according to The Sun.

Any potential move would reunite Vardy with Brendan Rodgers, who worked with the striker for four years at Leicester City.

However, Sky Sports reported earlier this week that no formal contact has been made between the clubs despite the ongoing speculation.

What Don Goodman has said on Jamie Vardy, Celtic move

Speaking exclusively to Football League World about the potential transfer, Sky Sports pundit Don Goodman believes Jamie Vardy would be an ideal signing for Celtic, especially after watching the Scottish champions struggle to find the net in their recent goalless Champions League qualifier against Kazakhstan side, Kairat Almaty.

"Interestingly enough, I did watch a large chunk of Celtic's midweek Champions League game against Kairat Almaty, and they were held to a 0-0 draw," Goodman explained.

"There were a few presentable chances, and I guess really, in terms of Jamie Vardy, I am absolutely convinced that had Jamie Vardy been in the green and white hoops of Celtic last Wednesday night, that some of those chances - if they fell for him - would’ve been converted."

The former Wolves and West Brom striker was ultimately excited about Vardy's potential impact in Scottish football, telling FLW, "So, the answer is yes, I do think he would be a good fit.

"He’s just a lethal finisher, and if you’re Celtic in the SPFL particularly, you mostly dominate games and create chances.

"You would back him to score a lot of goals at Celtic," Goodman concluded.

In the 24/25 Premier League season, Vardy managed to score nine goals whilst grabbing four assists, as Leicester were ultimately relegated in 18th. Over 13 seasons at the club, the striker has failed to hit double-digits for goals scored in just three of them.

Jamie Vardy would help Celtic's striker crisis

Goodman's comments come at a crucial time for Brendan Rodgers' side, who have struggled to score their usual bucket-load of goals in recent weeks.

Former Norwich striker Adam Idah's poor performance against Kairat saw him taken off at half-time after managing just 12 touches and no shots on target.

The £9m striker has failed to find the back of the net this season and appears to be struggling to handle the pressure of leading Celtic's attack.

Daizen Maeda and new signing Shin Yamada also struggled in the European Qualifier - with the trio combining for an xG (expected goals) of just 0.09.

Rodgers has called for attacking reinforcements in the transfer market, saying in an interview, "We still need to find a striker who puts the ball in the back of the net."

His public admission shows as much to the Bhoys' fans as it is a signal to those above him to bring attacking players in.

It's clear they've struggled without Nicholas Kuhn, who completed a £16.5m switch to Italian side Como earlier this summer window.

Whether Celtic can get the deal over the line for the ex-Foxes hitman remains to be seen, but Goodman's promising verdict definitely adds weight to the argument that Vardy could be exactly what the club need to get back to their old scoring habits.
