Former Manchester United goalkeeper Ben Foster believes the goal Nicolas Jackson scored against Brentford was a “thing of a beauty.”

The Blues made it five Premier League wins in a row as they ground out a hard fought 2-1 win against the Bees to move just two points behind leaders Liverpool.

Marc Cucurella opened the scoring with his first league goal for the Blues, whilst Jackson made sure of the points as he fired home ten minutes from time.

A number of players have improved under the guidance of Enzo Maresca so far this season with Jackson falling into that category.

It was no secret the Blues wanted to sign a striker over the summer having pursued Victor Osimhen for the majority of the window, but Jackson’s start to the season has shown he can be the main man.

The 23-year-old has nine goals and three assists in 15 league games this season, and former Blue Pat Nevin has backed Jackson to hit the 20 goal mark.

The Senegal international might still be raw but one area that needed improving was his finishing and on the evidence so far this season that has massively improved.

Jackson missed a brilliant chance in the second half against Brentford, and admitted after the game he knew he would get another opportunity.

That’s exactly what happened and he buried a much more difficult chance, with Foster describing the finish as a “thing of beauty.”

“Jackson’s finish [against Brentford] was a thing of beauty,” he said on his YouTube channel.

“As a goalie, when he’s running through there, I’m betting most of my money he’s putting it down to my right. It’s the easier finish. You can come across it and get more pace.

“For him to be that calm and composed and not give anything away with his body language and slot it into that far corner, it’s a really difficult finish. The goalie didn’t even know what day it was. It was such a good finish.”

Thierry Henry believes Jackson is on his way to becoming the “real deal,” whilst it’s clear Chelsea believe in him and it will be interesting to see how he develops over the remainder of the season.
