Switzerland and Inter custodian Jan Sommer told reporters on the eve of his country’s Round of 16 clash with Italy, that he is not relishing the opportunity of going head to head with Azzurri midfielder Jorginho.

Sommer famously got the better over the Italian in 2022 World Cup qualification when Jorginho missed two decisive spot-kicks in both matches against the Swiss to send them to Qatar and Italy into a play-off, which they eventually lost against North Macedonia.

Ahead of Saturday’s showdown in Berlin, calciomercato.com quotes Sommer who told the media at the pre-match press-conference that;

“Those errors were two very important situations for us to qualify for the World Cup in Qatar , but these are two situations in the past and tomorrow will be another story.”

Jorginho is unlikely to start at the Olympiastadion, but Azzurri coach Luciano Spalletti has already admitted that should the match look to be going to a penalty shoot-out, he would have no hesitation calling on the Arsenal to take one of the kicks.

Spalletti refused to be drawn on who his penalty takers would be on Saturday, preferring to concentrate on what he wants to happen over 90, or even 120 minutes.
