Having emerged as one of La Liga’s rising stars this season, Garcia has emerged as a top target for Barcelona this summer. But he is also courted by other clubs across Europe, including several Premier League giants.

However, Espanyol-based journalist Quique Iglesias has recently dropped a bombshell, claiming that there is no way Garcia is joining Barcelona this summer.

Speaking to COPE, Iglesias claimed that the Espanyol goalkeeper is expected to join a Premier League team this summer.

The journalist even suggested that Newcastle United could emerge as a potential destination for the Spaniard.

As for Barcelona, it is highly unlikely Garcia would consider a move to Camp Nou as he has very close ties to Espanyol, a direct rival.

Quique Iglesias can, in fact, confirm that a Barcelona move is out of the picture for the young goalkeeper, and he is willing to bet his money on it.

This could serve as a massive blow for Barcelona, who are in desperate need of reinforcements in the goalkeeping department.

Barcelona, though, are not expected to throw in the towel just yet. The club are betting heavily on the club’s sporting project and will hope that it will be enough to woo Garcia to make the switch.

But considering the social aspect of the transfer, there’s not much Barcelona can do should the goalkeeper indeed decide to move elsewhere.
