After a first win of the season against HAC (3-1), the central defender, who scored with a powerful header, and the young midfielder trained at the Academy, who made his first professional debut, stopped in the mixed zone.
They needed to apply themselves to overcome a persistent Le Havre. 3-1 winners to open the league season, the players of AS Monaco saw success as they kicked off the 2025-2026 season, led by Eric Dier, who scored on his debut, and Aladji Bamba, who made his professional debut. After the match, the two players stopped in the mixed zone to discuss their feelings about the game.🎙️
Good evening, Eric. How do you feel after your first Ligue 1 appearance?
It was a great day for me, even though for a first appearance, you never know what to expect. I’m very happy with the win and my goal. The most important thing, however, is the team, so I’m happy with this start to the season and to be able to play football again.
Tell us about your goal from a corner.
I just attacked the area where I was supposed to be, and Lamine made a nice cross. We executed the move as we wanted. I’m happy to have been able to score that second goal in the game. After that, we conceded a penalty; it was a bit annoying, but we reacted well.
The coach said the result was good, but the performance wasn’t 100% satisfactory. What do you think?
It’s early in the season; there are still things to improve upon, which is normal. As I said, the most important thing is winning, and we have to be able to win despite a performance that isn’t yet perfect. That’s what we did; we’ll continue to improve. We have to savor every victory, stay calm, and work hard on what we need to do better.
We saw you talking a lot with your teammates during the match.
It has been very easy for me to adapt to the team and my teammates, no longer being a young player. The people at the club, as well as the staff, are very kind and eager to work. It’s the same in the locker room, so my adaptation was easy for me.
Any final words on the atmosphere at the Stade Louis-II tonight?
The atmosphere and ambiance were fantastic. We need to produce exciting performances by playing good football and secure victories to reward them for their efforts.
Good evening, Aladji. Your teammates seemed to be teasing you after your first professional appearance.
I think they’re happy for me, and I am too, especially since there’s a victory at the end. It’s something special to make your first appearance, and I’m both happy and proud. I’d had a lot of playing time in pre-season and done some good things. So I thought, why not play? That’s what happened when the coach called me up in the 88th minute.
We know the importance of starting the season well. Is this a significant victory for you?
It’s always important to start a season well, especially at home. We’re happy to have done it in style; it’s a pleasure.
What can you bring to the team?
I’m able to win balls and have good technique, which allows me to bring the ball out cleanly. I can also bring my energy. I try to work every day to establish myself, and the coach then makes his decision. I always give my all in training and matches, and I hope it continues in this direction. That’s good for me; I’m very happy.
