Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca has been asked whether he will be recalling midfielders Lesley Ugochukwu and/or Andrey Santos this month.
The Blues have fresh issues with both Enzo Fernandez and Romeo Lavia, who are both real doubts for the game tonight against Wolves after missing training.
This has led to reporters asking whether Chelsea will be looking to recall one of their own midfielders out on loan this season.
Ugochukwu is with Southampton in the Premier League and has had a real up and down time there so far. And Andrey Santos is killing it at Strasbourg in Ligue 1 who are of course Chelsea’s sister club.
With both players owned by Chelsea, it seems like they would be able to trigger a recall with either player this month, as they have already done with Trevoh Chalobah last week.

Now I never take a manager, agent, director, or anyone’s word seriously to be honest, during a transfer window or leading up to one. But from what Maresca is saying, it does not sound like the club are planning to recall either midfielder this window, even though they absolutely should be looking to.
The Daily Mail journalist Kieran Gill asked Enzo Maresca if Chelsea are considering a recall for either loanee.
He responded: “No, because we don’t know if it’s a problem for them (Romeo Lavia and Enzo Fernandez), just that we don’t know if they will play the next game.”
I think it’s absolute madness that the club are allegedly not looking to recall a midfielder with the constant injuries that Romeo Lavia gets throughout his short career so far.
Even if he isn’t injured, it’s certainly an area they could do with reinforcing in my opinion.
