England beat the Netherlands 4-0 in their second game of Women’s Euro 2025 and here we give our player ratings for the Lionesses from their match vs the Dutch.
Hannah Hampton – 8
Distribution was excellent during the first-half, particularly in the build-up for England’s opener. Will have busier nights in goal later in the tournament.
Lucy Bronze – 7
Much improved from Saturday where she struggled defensively. Got forward with ease and defended well.
Jess Carter – 7
Looked much more comfortable at centre-back than she did at full-back against France. Sarina Wiegman has found her best back-four lineup and put them in the right positions.
Leah Williamson – 7
Not half as busy as she was against France but looked comfortable on the ball and formed a solid partnership with a new centre-back partner.
Alex Greenwood – 7
Dealt well with the chance in position and was able to get forward at will as England piled the pressure on the Netherlands.
Keira Walsh – 7
Took control of the midfield alongside Georgia Stanway, ensuring that the Netherlands midfielders could get never get settled and build-up play.
Georgia Stanway – 8
There were questions over her place after a lacklustre display against France but she delivered against the Netherlands. Her goal before half-time effectively killed the game.
Ella Toone – 9
Delivered the kind of display which will make you question why she was on the bench against France. Linked up excellently with her teammates, showed a lot of energy and took her goal well.
Justified calls for her to start out wide in the place of Beth Mead and delivered a brilliant performance. Scored two excellent goals and secretly would have been a little annoyed that she got subbed just before 70 minutes to prevent her from getting a hat-trick.
Alessia Russo – 9
A hat-trick of assists for the Arsenal star. She perhaps would prefer a hat-trick of goals but she is still goalless this tournament after having another goal disallowed.
Lauren Hemp – 8
Constant livewire for England down the left flank. Netherlands did not know how to contain her and on another night she would have had three assists
Substitutes
Chloe Kelly (James 69) – 6
Was the first change for England but didn’t have too much to do as the game was already wrapped up by the time she came off the bench.
Beth Mead (Hemp 76) – 6
Helped see things out for England but will be concerned about her place in the team after Lauren James’ starring role.
Grace Clinton (Toone 76) – 6
Looked comfortable on the ball but the intensity of the game had long dropped by the time she came on.
Aggie Beever-Jones (Russo 84) – N/A
Niamh Charles (Bronze 84) – N/A
