Lucy Bronze and Sarina Wiegman answer media questions ahead of Euro 2025 quarter final vs Sweden

The Lionesses face off with Sweden in the quarter final of Euro 2025 this week, but fans have been left outraged with some of the questions asked about Love Island building up to the game.

England’s game against Sweden on Thursday is their biggest game since the World Cup final in 2023.

With a game of such high magnitude approaching, it comes as a bit of a surprise that the media have been questioning the Lionesses about Love Island.

Sarina Wiegman and Lucy Bronze were asked about who in the squad would do best on the popular ITV show, Love Island, and neither seemed too impressed.

The England manager decided to pass the question on to her veteran defender but Bronze also opted to not give an answer.

Fans flooded the comments after BBC posted the clip complaining about a lack of professionalism in the question asked.

One X user wrote: “Glad to see mature and serious journalism at this major tournament. Really helping to build respect and grow the game.”

Another said: “Looking forward to them asking the men’s team the same question.. Continuing to trivialise women’s football.”

England star’s brother on Love Island

While the question was highly unprofessional, there is one Lioness who has ties to a contestant on this year’s Love Island.

Alessia Russo’s brother appeared on the show this summer and as a result a lot of the camp has reportedly been following his progress on Love Island.

Her brother, Giorgio Russo, only appeared briefly on the show before being dumped earlier this week.

The 30-year-old left the show and instead of heading home to England, he is jetting straight off to Switzerland to support his sister in the Euro 2025 knockouts.

Lionesses Euro 2025 odds

England play Sweden on Thursday night and they are favoured to win the quarter final at a price of 1/1 with the UK’s best betting sites.

The Lionesses are fancied to go far in yet another European Championship this year and should they beat Sweden, they would become much shorter than the 4/1 price that they currently hold for the competition.

Even if they can get past Sweden, England could face a difficult route to the final with another potential blockbuster clash against Spain lined up.
