FLW takes a look at all the crucial information surrounding Boro's prolific centre-forward.
Middlesbrough striker Emmanuel Latte Lath has established himself as one of the Championship's most prolific centre-forwards.
The 26-year-old made the move to Teesside in the summer of 2023, signing from Italian Serie A side Atalanta for a fee of £4.2m.
It didn't take long for the Ivorian international to make that look a bargain for Boro, as he bagged 18 goals in all competitions during his first season at the Riverside Stadium in 2023/24.
As a result, Middlesbrough's number nine has been turning heads across European, and indeed world football in recent times, with a host of top clubs circling Boro's marksman.
But what sort of transfer value does he have? How much is he earning on Teesside? Are Middlesbrough in a strong or weak position regarding his contract status? Football League World investigates.
Upon the departure of the Championship's golden boot winner of 2022/23, Chuba Akpom, in the same summer window that Lath arrived on Teesside, many Boro fans were concerned that Michael Carrick's team were no longer in possession of a potent goalscorer.
However, needn't had they worried, as Latte Lath's goals and performances have been worth their weight in gold for Middlesbrough since he made the switch to the North East.
But how much are those goals costing Boro from a salary perspective? Is he a top earner at the Riverside, or are the club enjoying the spoils of their hitman at a relatively little cost?
According to Capology - whose figures must be stressed are an estimate -, Latte Lath is reported to be earning a weekly wage of £10,000 as a Boro player, which calculates his annual salary as being £520,000.
So, does that put him near the top of Middlesbrough's top-earners for this season? Well, as detailed in the above table using figures from Capology, nine Boro players earn a higher weekly wage than Latte Lath at the Riverside.
As such, that could play a big part in his long-term future, as top clubs wouldn't have to offer the Ivorian a significant wage hike in order to present a financially lucrative package to the Boro striker.
The status of a players' contract plays a critical role regarding a club's chances of retaining a player, as well as their ability to play a strong hand if and when they are summoned to the negotiating table.
If a player doesn't have much time left on their deal, then that would weaken the owning club's position to command a higher fee. Whereas if the player has plenty of time remaining on his contract, then the club can play hardball when it comes to price-tags and commissioning a sale.
So, what is Latte Lath's contract situation with Middlesbrough? Thankfully, as far as Boro supporters will be concerned, the Teessiders are in a strong position when it comes to the time remaining on his current deal.
Latte Lath is contracted to Middlesbrough until the summer of 2027, and that's not all, as Boro also possess the option to extend that by a further 12 months should they wish.
Having carried his goalscoring form from his debut season into the current one, Latte Lath has undoubtedly proven himself to be a top striker at Championship level.
But, so long as Boro remain a second tier side, clubs in top divisions will always be searching for quality players from lower leagues, as they look to find better value in the transfer market.
So, what sort of transfer value does Latte Lath carry currently? MLS side Atlanta United have made a formal approach for the striker, with their bid being worth a reported £18m up-front, with a further £2m in add-ons.
This matches what Middlesbrough were understood to have turned down for their centre-forward in the summer, as Ipswich Town's deadline day approach, worth £20m once add-ons were included, was rejected by the Teessiders.
Therefore, the £20m range seems to be the transfer value that clubs have placed on Latte Lath, but it remains to be seen whether Boro are happy with that fee and are simply waiting to secure a replacement, or if in fact they are holding out for more.
