Since taking up the role as Head Coach, it has been a busy few months for Elena Sadiku and her Celtic FC Women’s squad.

With her first two games coming against Rangers and Glasgow City back in January, it ended in unfortunate defeat for the Swedish Head Coach, after only a matter of days in the role.

However, fast forward to March 31, it has come full circle for the Hoops boss and her squad, who have picked up impressive results against the two same opponents to round off the month.

Travelling to Petershill Park for the second of the post-split fixtures, Celtic secures another hugely important three points thanks to goals from Caitlin Hayes and Tash Flint in the 2-1 victory.

Speaking to Celtic TV after the match, Sadiku said: “I thought it was a great team performance. Obviously we scores great goals through Caitlin Hayes and Tash Flint. We also had a good chance of a third, with Amy Gallacher almost scoring a great goal.

“But overall, I think the team performance is something that I am always going to highlight. How we defend, how we win our duels.

'This team has grown so much in my eyes, and I think other people see that as well.'

“I also said it to the girls. It’s not only about the starting eleven. It’s about everyone. It comes down to the fact that how we train is how we play.

“It comes down to the players who are, unfortunately on the bench and not playing, but this win is something that they have been contributing to.

“So I’m very pleased with the entire squad because this is something that we do together as a team.”

Although it has only been a short time in charge for the Celtic Head Coach, the progress that her squad has already made is very impressive.

That was on show once again on Sunday afternoon at Petershill Park, with the Ghirls running out well-deserved winners in another derby fixture.

The challenge now is to continue building upon that momentum, and the Hoops boss believes there is still even more to come from her players as they head into the final eight league games of the campaign.

“I just fall more and more in love with this team and what we can do,” she said. “Obviously it’s not easy sometimes to sit on the bench.

“But we keep working hard and we keep preparing the best way for every game, and that is something that makes me happy to see how we fight and how we play football.

'So that is something that we just need to keep building on.'

“It’s maybe boring to say this, but it’s a total difference from my first two games. The team has grown.

“They are all showing great confidence and belief in what we do every day. So we just need to keep building, keep working hard and keep improving as a team because in the end, I think we can do more still.”
