After the customary interview with the club’s official channels, Roma midfielder Neil El Aynaoui spoke to the French media, sharing his feelings about his new environment, Gasperini’s working methods, and his integration process.
In an interview with Capte’, El Aynaoui said, “I’m happy to have arrived at a big club like Roma. There are so many changes: life, a different climate, a different and bigger city. Let’s say I’m now in a phase of discovering this new life.”
“The temperatures have been high all week, and making the first efforts like this is quite difficult. And then the training sessions are very intense. It’s not a myth: you run a lot. It was complicated, but that’s what you need, so it’s good.”
“Gasperini? He commands respect. He has a kind of aura, something emanates when he speaks. He’s different from all the coaches I’ve had so far. He doesn’t speak much English, so I have to learn Italian quickly. But I’m happy and eager to learn more about his philosophy.”
“There aren’t many French speakers in the locker room, so if I want to chat, I have to learn quickly. For now, I talk a lot with French speakers, and I’m lucky enough to speak Spanish, so that helps me with the Spanish and South American players in the squad. Speaking more languages helps. Then, little by little, I’m starting to get to know everyone, even the staff. I think it will get better and better with time.”
“The intensity they put into every session, the professionalism. And here you can see that it’s even higher level. So I’d say that what struck me in Lens, I find here too, but at a higher level.”
