Newcastle United and Liverpool are reportedly showing strong interest in Hugo Ekitiké, who could leave Eintracht Frankfurt this summer. PSG, his former club, would benefit from the transfer thanks to a 20 percent sell-on clause.
According to Sky Sport Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, Ekitiké is high on Liverpool’s list of attacking targets. But the 23-year-old French striker knows a move to Anfield would probably depend on Liverpool selling some players first.
Liverpool are gearing up to start talks about signing Ékitiké, but any deal probably hinges on them selling Darwin Núñez first, GIVE ME SPORT previously reported.
The report says Liverpool have signaled to Eintracht Frankfurt that they’re ready to negotiate, which has boosted Frankfurt’s confidence that they can get their £86 million asking price.
After bringing in several new players this summer, Liverpool will likely need to offload Núñez to free up room for Ékitiké.

On Saturday, Plettenberg reported that Frankfurt want to keep Ékitike and prepare for the Champions League. That said, he reveals that Eintracht expect offers this month.
Liverpool and Manchester United are still serious contenders, and Newcastle has renewed their interest while Chelsea seems unlikely for now after signing João Pedro. Moreover, the report claims that Ékitike’s price tag is around €100 million.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported this week that Ékitiké is still attracting interest from the Premier League, with Newcastle among the clubs showing strong interest in the striker.
Liverpool and Chelsea both made inquiries back in June, and other Premier League sides are keeping an eye on his situation. Ékitiké has also drawn recent interest from Saudi clubs Al Hilal and Al Qadsiah, but his focus remains on securing a move within Europe.
