Manchester City could yet see Ederson depart the Etihad Stadium this summer, following the emergence of claims surrounding new transfer talks for the Brazilian.

The goalkeeper’s future has been one of the longest-running narratives of the summer window, with interest from multiple clubs – most notably Galatasaray – fuelling ongoing speculation despite periods of quiet.

While British reports in recent weeks suggested that Ederson was likely to remain at Manchester City for the 2025/26 campaign, new claims from abroad indicate that the Turkish champions are not ready to give up.

Ederson’s situation has already taken several twists. He publicly shut down rumours at the FIFA Club World Cup calling 99 per cent of the reports “fake” and reiterating his commitment to Manchester City. However, that has not stopped suitors from circling.

Napoli are believed to have explored a deal earlier in the summer but pulled out due to financial constraints, while Galatasaray’s interest progressed to the point of reported personal term agreements before stalling over City’s valuation and the player’s salary request.

Even amid those complications, the Istanbul side have remained persistent. Their manager, Okan Buruk, has previously described Ederson as “a very important option” while acknowledging the need for City’s approval. In recent weeks, Fenerbahçe have also been linked, creating the possibility of a domestic bidding war.

Now, according to the information of Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla, Galatasaray have activated new transfer talks for Manchester City’s mainstay number one choice goalkeeper, with all agreements still needed.

This latest move suggests Galatasaray may be prepared to revisit terms in the hope of bridging the gap between their previous offers and Manchester City’s demands. It is unclear whether their new approach includes an improved fee, alternative payment structure, or revised salary proposal for the Brazilian.

From Manchester City’s perspective, the equation remains delicate. They have re-signed James Trafford from Burnley and still face uncertainty over Stefan Ortega’s future, meaning any Ederson departure would force a significant reshuffle in the goalkeeping department.

City may yet have to contend with speculation around Ederson until well into the final stages of the summer market, and the coming weeks will determine whether Galatasaray’s renewed talks can overcome the financial hurdles that seemingly stalled their pursuit earlier in the window.
