Durham sign highly-rated attacking midfielder Jones | OneFootball

Durham have completed the signing of highly-rated attacking midfielder Abbey Jones on a free transfer.

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Wildcats this afternoon.

The 22-year-old Nottingham-born midfielder joins Durham following the conclusion of her studies in the United States at the University of Connecticut where she has spent the last four years. Jones got close to 70 games under her belt for UCONN in her time Stateside and she registered many goal involvements.

In her youth, Jones was on the books of Midlands clubs Derby County, Birmingham City, Leicester City and Aston Villa.

On the international stage, Jones has represented England up to and including Under-18 level.

Jones is a player who is being tipped for a bright future in the game and she will be hoping to make her mark for new club Durham this season.

After sealing her move to Maiden Castle, Jones said “It’s been great, the girls are lovely and welcoming, I’m very excited.

“I’m an attacking player, I like to drive at the defence, I like to create goals and I have very big team ambitions, to go up.”

Jones is Durham’s sixth signing of the summer transfer window.
