Coventry City owner Doug King has revealed that the club's recruitment team is working hard to ensure Mark Robins has the strongest possible squad at his disposal at the end of the summer transfer window, making this claim on the club's website.

The Sky Blues have been very active in recent windows, with King cashing in on some valuable players and giving Robins the budget to recruit some top-quality additions in return.

Viktor Gyokeres and Gus Hamer may have gone, a potential key reason why they weren't able to finish in the play-offs at the end of the 2023/24 campaign, but plenty of excellent signings came in.

Ellis Simms hasn't had it all his own way this term, but has done very well in recent months, with Haji Wright also showing real quality at times.

It also seems as though the Sky Blues have unearthed a gem in Milan van Ewijk, and it wouldn't be a surprise to see some other additions shine in the coming years too, including Bobby Thomas.

Even in January, Coventry made a couple of promising signings, with Victor Torp set to be a crucial figure in midfield in the coming years.

And even though the Midlands club are yet to see Ephron Mason-Clark in action, with the winger being loaned back in the winter to Peterborough United, it wouldn't be a surprise to see him shine at the Coventry Building Society Arena.

He will come in to address a wing area that needed to be looked at, with a previous shortage of options in this area.

With King not afraid to spend and players to sell if required, it wouldn't be a surprise to see the Sky Blues spend a decent amount of money again this summer.

Whether they do remains to be seen, but the owner is certainly ambitious.

He wrote: "The summer break will bring the Euros of course, but I have no doubt that fans will also enjoy speculating about players’ ins and outs at the Club.

"Our Head of Recruitment Dean Austin and his dedicated team have been and will continue to work diligently to ensure that come the end of the transfer window we keep our momentum, and have the strongest squad possible as we continue to push for promotion to the top-flight where this Club belongs."

Ideally, Coventry will surely want to retain most of their key stars beyond the end of this term.

Callum O'Hare looks destined to leave, but if they can keep Ben Sheaf and other key men like Tatsuhiro Sakamoto, that alone could put Coventry in a strong position for next season.

There are some areas that need to be addressed though.

The goalkeeping department is one area that many fans will want to see addressed, with both Ben Wilson and Brad Collins making mistakes during the 2023/24 campaign.

The striker area is another department that could be looked at too, especially if Wright remains on the wing and Matt Godden leaves.
