Diriangén defeats Herediano for Group B lead

DIRIAMBA, Nicaragua – The 2025 Concacaf Central American Cup continued with Cacique Diriangén FC earning a 4-2 victory against CS Herediano in Group B on Wednesday at Estadio Cacique Diriangén in Diriamba, Nicaragua.
Junior Arteaga placed the home side in front at the 3’ with a right-footed finish from the center of the box.
Marcel Hernández equalized in the 11’ with a left-footed shot inside the box after taking on the goalkeeper.
Renzo Carballo retook the lead for Diriangén in the 19’ with a shot from close range to pounce on a rebound inside the box.
Carballo converted for his brace in the 31’ with a strike on the right side of the box to connect with a service from Jonathan Moncada.
Jurguens Montenegro cut the deficit for the visitors in the 48’ with a right-footed finish inside the box, connecting on a through ball from Allan Cruz.
Justing Cano added the fourth for the Nicaraguan side in the 71’, striking off a rebound to seal the victory.
Diriangén’s next opponent in the Central American Cup will be Sporting San Miguelito next Wednesday in Panama. CS Herediano will also visit San Miguelito for its next group fixture, with that encounter coming on August 21.
