Aston Villa welcomed Liverpool at Villa Park earlier tonight as they hoped to secure a win at home in the Premier League. The Villans made a horror start to the game as they conceded the opening goal in the second minute when Emiliano Martinez scored an unfortunate own goal. However, Youri Tielemans equalised for the West Midlands club with a good strike in the 12th minute before Cody Gakpo put Liverpool back ahead again in the 23rd minute. Unai Emery’s men went into the half-time interval 2-1 down on the scoreline.

Jarell Quansah scored with a solid header in the 48th minute which left the home team with a mountain to climb. However, Jhon Duran scored a quick-fire brace late in the game to rescue a point for his team. The match ended with Aston Villa earning an entertaining 3-3 draw at Villa Park.

GK: Emiliano Martinez – 6/10

Martinez made a poor error early in the game but managed to pull off some top saves to keep his team in the game.

He got stuck in with a few solid tackles and was accurate with his passing.

CB: Diego Carlos – 5.5/10

Carlos put his foot through the ball when he could but was guilty of missing a sitter at the other end.

CB: Pau Torres – 6/10

The Spaniard made some important clearances at the back but won’t be pleased about conceding three goals.

LB: Lucas Digne – 7/10

Digne worked his socks off at both ends of the pitch.

CM: Youri Tielemans – 7/10

He managed to score in the 12th minute with a great strike and was replaced in the 64th minute.

CM: Douglas Luiz – 6/10

Luiz earned possession back twice and was good on the ball.

RW: Leon Bailey – 7/10

He was a constant menace in the final third but didn’t do enough to register a goal.

CAM: John McGinn – 7/10

McGinn put in a tireless shift in the Liverpool half but failed to get his name on the scoresheet.

LW: Moussa Diaby – 8/10

He was a real threat at times and ended the game with an assist to his name.

ST: Ollie Watkins – 7/10

Watkins worked hard in the final third and has got an assist to show for his efforts.

LW: Nicolo Zaniolo – 6/10

He had to be replaced in the 78th minute.

Duran scored two quick goals late in the game to rescue a point for Aston Villa.
