An insight into the details of the financial bonuses forwarded to La Liga giants Real Madrid’s first-team squad for their efforts at the recent Club World Cup has on Friday been provided.
Xabi Alonso’s Real Madrid squad of course played their part in the newly-formatted Club World Cup over the last two months.
When all was said and done, Los Blancos battled their way to a semi-final berth, before being sent packing in dominant fashion by Champions League holders Paris Saint-Germain.
The capital club’s stars have since departed for a well-earned summer vacation, ahead of reconvening in Madrid next month for pre-season training.
Prior to as much, though, Alonso’s players were the recipients of a notable bonus payment.
As revealed by Marca, Real’s captaincy group negotiated the following terms with the club’s board:
‘Each first-team player received €50,000 for advancing from the group stage, €80,000 for the round of 16, and €150,000 for reaching the semi-finals. A total bonus of €280,000 was awarded.’
