AC Milan and Inter Milan’s bid to purchase San Siro has hit a delay, with the final decision now expected in September.

Per Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInterNews, the clubs’ joint effort to build a new stadium is now in jeopardy.

Both sides have been eager to complete the deal by the end of June.

Furthermore, they’ve already agreed on terms with the City Council, laying the groundwork for acquiring the site.

However, everything now hangs by a thread.

Purchasing San Siro and the surrounding areas remains Inter’s top priority under Oaktree Capital.

Despite devising a backup plan, AC Milan have joined their rivals on this mission.

Though it seemed like everything was going to plan, the judicial upheaval in the Municipality of Milan could undermine the deal.

Indeed, the upcoming changes will likely have political implications regarding the San Siro project.

Milan and Inter had the majority in the City Council, but that may no longer be the case.
