Mason Greenwood has scored 16 goals in 27 appearances at Marseille this season, but Italian coach Roberto De Zerbi reveals he expects ‘more’ from the versatile English striker.

Greenwood was linked with moves to Juventus and Lazio last summer, but he eventually joined Ligue 1 side Marseille, coached by De Zerbi.

“I expect more from him. He has to do more because what he is showing right now is not enough,” de Zerbi said via Marca.

“If he wants to achieve his dream of becoming a champion, he has to be more consistent, sacrifice more, and be more determined.”

De Zerbi left Greenwood on the bench in the latest Ligue 1 game against RC Lens. Marseille suffered a 1-0 home loss but remain second in the table, 18 points leaders PSG, their next opponent.

“He [Greenwood] is too inconsistent, like the waves,” concluded De Zerbi.

“That is something I don’t like. If someone trains poorly, they won’t play, no matter what their name is.”
