With the arrival of Mats Hummels, Roma’s transfer business is complete.
The Giallorossi will not seek to add anymore free agents following the signings of Hermoso and Hummels in the last few days.
The German veteran completed his medical on Wednesday afternoon and joined a defensive department that will include Gianluca Mancini, Evan Ndicka and Mario Hermosos for the remainder of the season.
According to Leggo, there was – for a brief moment – the possibility of Kostas Manolas returning to the club on very low wages.
However, the newspaper writes that ultimately De Rossi decided against it – the Roma manager will rely on Primavera captain Federico Nardin as the team fifth-choice centre-back.
The choice not to bring back Manolas, who was close to PAOK, was dictated by the player’s physical condition, often struggling with muscular problems in recent seasons.
Nardin, just 17 years old and already a European champion with the national youth team, impressed in Trigoria, earning De Rossi’s trust for his performances in the first days of the new season.
