An insight into the pivotal role played by Real Madrid assistant coach Davide Ancelotti in the club’s latest victory on the continent has on Thursday been provided.

Real, of course, are fresh off booking their spot in the final of the Champions League late last night.

As much came courtesy of a last-gasp comeback downing of German heavyweights Bayern Munich.

The Blancos’ hero on the night came in the form of Joselu, who was introduced off the bench late on at the Santiago Bernabéu, before bagging both of his side’s goals.

And, as alluded to above, as much was inspired not by head coach Carlo Ancelotti, but instead by the Italian’s son and assistant, Davide.

As revealed by the Movistar cameras in attendance in Spain’s capital on Wednesday, with his side trailing by a goal to nil, Carlo Ancelotti turned to Davide, with a simple message:

‘We need change.’

From here, Real’s assistant manager responded by immediately calling down the touchline for Joselu to return from his warm-up.

And the rest, as they say, is history…
