David Møller Wolfe has insisted there are positives to build on despite Wolves’ opening-day 4–0 defeat to Premier League champions Manchester City at Molineux.

The Norwegian wing-back, making his competitive debut for the club after joining from AZ Alkmaar less than three weeks ago, admitted the result was tough to take but stressed that it did not reflect the full story of the match.

“For me, it’s not a 4–0 game,” Wolfe said. He pointed to Wolves’ disallowed goal as a potential turning point, while acknowledging the ruthless quality of City in punishing mistakes.

Having previously featured only in a friendly against Celta Vigo, Wolfe also underlined that he and the team are still building chemistry. “I’ve had just 45 minutes with the team before this game, so I probably need a couple more matches. But I already feel a strong connection with the group.”

The 22-year-old focused on the lessons to be taken from the defeat. “There’s so much to learn from this game, individually and as a team,” he reflected. He highlighted sharper attacking movement and timing as key areas for improvement, suggesting Wolves could have created more chances with better precision in the final third.

Despite the scoreline, Wolfe was upbeat about what lies ahead. “I have a really good feeling about our team, and I think the fans can look beyond the result and see that we played some good football,” he said.

Wolves travel to Bournemouth on Saturday for their second game of the campaign.
