Daniele De Rossi after qualifying to Europa League quarter-final: “I could have done better.” | OneFootball

Roma manager Daniele De Rossi reacted to the team’s defeat to Brighton which still resulted in the Giallorossi going through to the Europa League quarter-finals.

In his post-match interview with Sky Sport, De Rossi was not satisfied with his in-game management and decision-making.

“In the meantime, already reaching the qualification is a good reason to congratulate the boys. They could have done something better with the ball – we definitely could have let the game breathe and slow down the tempo.”

“Baldanzi? I see him every day and I see him better and better. It was his first game on this stage and with a team that never lets you see the ball.”

“He worked very hard and I am very happy with him. He is becoming a real player but he is strong and must continue to improve like this.”

“We could have done better in managing the ball, even if it’s true that Brighton did everything to control possession. When you have it you have to do better in your movements. They were very clean one-on-one but we had to try to come out more because we always put them in difficulty. I could have done better, managed certain situations better.”

“I had already found the team in a good condition and I see it getting better and better. They are all very strong in training, if you are strong in training on a physical level you win the matches. We have to improve with the ball because if you put more clarity into it we will grow.”

“We met strong teams and had two difficult rounds. On the one hand it’s exciting, you go up against stronger players and coaches in very beautiful stadiums, on the other hand a stroke of luck never sucks. We have to play openly with many teams, if we hadn’t scored 4 goals in the first leg today we would have had a different match.”

“As they say in these cases, no one will be happy to face Roma in the quarterfinals, and whatever the draw, there won’t be anything to be happy about.”
