Cuba, Trinidad and Tobago inch closer to final round

MIAMI – Cuba and Trinidad and Tobago solidified their place among the top two in their groups as the Second Round of the Concacaf Qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup 2026 continued on Friday.
The Road to the 2026 continues for Concacaf nations with the final encounters of the Second Round during the June 2025 match window. The group winners and runners-up will progress to the Third and Final Round.
Antigua and Barbuda 0, Cuba 1
Cuba earned a 1-nil victory against Antigua and Barbuda in Group A at the ABFA Technical Center in Piggotts, Antigua and Barbuda.
Pedro Bravo struck the lone goal of the encounter in the 45’+8’ with a right-footed shot off the volley to connect with a corner kick service from Diego Catasus.
Cuba improved to six points and moved to second place as a pivotal encounter with Bermuda looms on Tuesday.
Antigua and Barbuda is unable to advance to the final round and will conclude its campaign against Honduras on Tuesday.
Trinidad and Tobago 6, Saint Kitts and Nevis 2
Trinidad and Tobago earned a 6-2 win against Saint Kitts and Nevis in Group B at Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.
Levi García put the home side in front in the 9’ with a strike inside the penalty area.
García was denied a brace in the 26’ as Julani Archibald denied a penalty kick opportunity.
G'Vaune Amory equalized in the 27’ with a lethal strike form the outside edge of the box.
Dante Sealy retook the lead for the hosts in the 29’ with a left-footed finish from the top of the box.
Tiquanny Williams struck from a free kick in the 45’ to draw the match at two apiece before halftime.
Kevin Molino struck from a penalty kick chance in the 48’ to retake the lead for Trinidad and Tobago.
Sealy collected his brace in the 66’ with a left-footed strike from outside the box.
Ajani Fortune added a fifth for Trinidad and Tobago in the 85’ with a right-footed finish from the right side of the box.
Nathaniel James added his name to the scoresheet in the 89’ to put a bow on the victory.
With the victory, Trinidad and Tobago improves to seven points to take first place in the group. The Soca Warriors will meet Costa Rica in a battle for first place on Tuesday.
Saint Kitts and Nevis remains in fourth place with three points and will conclude its campaign against Grenada on Tuesday.
